IVF and Fertility
Dr Turner always had a special interest in infertility, developing his knowledge and skills during his senior registrar year at Professor Craft’s London Fertility Clinic. This was followed by a research fellow year at the Walsgrave Assisted Conception unit in Coventry before returning to practice at the Wesley in 1998. Since then, he has been affiliated with the IVF unit at the Wesley Hospital and is now the Director of this unit.
Dr Turner’s relaxed approach makes the infertility pathway less stressful for couples. He emphasises that infertility is a ‘couples’ issue and encourages active participation from both partners. Appreciating the fears and concerns of patients, Dr Turner takes a detailed history and examination and utilizing appropriate investigations, explores the possible cause for the delay in conceiving.
He outlines the treatment options available and offers the full range of fertility treatments including ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, IVF, surrogacy and fertility preservation. Dr Turner believes in ‘holistic patient specific personalised care’ to optimise results rather than a ‘one shoe fits all’ protocol driven approach.
Dr Turner is experienced in treating same sex couples and single women. Through Monash IVF, he has access to a comprehensive range of sperm and egg donors.
Dr Turner appreciates that there are many ‘unknowns’ in infertility and is comfortable working with complementary medicine therapists to obtain the best results.
